| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com Product Description "How far to the green?" is not only the most common question on the course, but arguably the most important as well. If you don't have an accurate feel for which club to use, it's tough to keep your scores low. Enter the handheld Sureshot GPS golf system, which displays the distance to both the green and nearby hazards on two easy-to-read screens. The first screen, known as the green screen, shows the distance from your ball to the front, center, and rear of the green. The second hazard screen, meanwhile, displays up to 15 hazards per hole, with a colored icon representing each hazard. Wondering whether you can carry the pond? Check the Sureshot. Trying to figure out if the sand trap is located 20 yards short of the pin or at the same distance? Take a look at the hazard info. Plus, the Sureshot helps you maintain your momentum while you play, as you'll no longer have to search for distance markers in the fairway.
The Sureshot GPS provides the distance to up to 15 hazards per hole. |
The unit attaches to your belt, buggy, or golf cart. | The Sureshot offers a couple of different course options: First, you can download prerecorded courses from Sureshot's website, with all the pins and hazards already measured. As an alternative, you can map your own course as you play, with the ability to record up to 10 different courses on the Sureshot's built-in memory. Wherever in the world you golf, the Sureshot GPS will give you more confidence, speed up your play, and deliver more statistical information per round, including data on your pace of play, elapsed playing time, fairways hit, greens in regulation, and putts. The Sureshot GPS--which lets you record up to 33 reference points for each hole--comes with a copy of Sureanalysis software for Windows, which further analyzes your play and keeps statistics for specific or multiple games. It also attaches to your belt, golf cart, or buggy for easy access.

Great Accuracy - if its in the system June 25, 2009 C. Reining (Denver, CO) If its not in the system good luck. I have requested online and via email for a course to be added for over a month. I tried to map it myself but you have to stand for 10 seconds on the front, middle and back of the green plus anything else you want mapped. Its impossible during an actual game. I highly recommend to check the list first. If its not listed you might never get it added. My cousin bought another GPS system and requested the same course and it was available for download in less than a week.
The scoring system is a bit strange. I have yet to find it accurate in my GIR's and Fairways hit for some reason. I am not sure if that is operator error or something else.
The worst news is I used it 5 times in a little over a month and it was stolen from my cart during a bathroom break. Do not leave it out around a clubhouse.
SURESHOTGPS January 21, 2009 Charles Mueller (Linden, Michigan USA) Sureshot GPS Golf System
Set up and registration of thr product was easy, from there on there are some problems. The mapping function does not work as explained in the manual. While I was able to figure out a way to map a course it is slightly more time consuming than the manual would have you believe. It was very difficult to get a response from tech service
and thier follow-up has been spotty at best.
In summary, the gps seems to work well enough and the accuracy appears good. Service has a long way to go and will eventually damage the product.

Sureshot golf GPS January 12, 2009 Janet L. Cooley We sent it back because it isn't compatible with the MAC system. I wish it had been more obvious from the description before we purchased it. We also weren't satisfied that the courses we normally play weren't even on it.
I've used it for two years and it still works great. December 22, 2008 JB (Little Rock, AR USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I originally bought the Sureshot over the equivalent Skycaddie model because the yearly fee's were much more reasonable. My unit has lasted more than two years and the battery shows no signs of performance loss. I usually go two or three rounds without a recharge. The unit is very accurate, and courses are easily user mapped if they haven't been professionally mapped by Sureshot. This is the only golf gadget I've purchased that hasn't been a waste of money. I still use my Sureshot for every round I play.
Sub-par performance June 9, 2008 Ernie Magawbe 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought this unit because I am a Mac user and when shopping for a GPS this was the only one that touted itself as "Mac compatable." After trying to download the proper software I discovered it wouldn't work because I don't have a Intel-based Mac that will run Parallels Desktop. "...Parallels Desktop allows a user to run a Virtual machine (Guest OS) inside a windowed environment but is only supported under Windows XP..." This is COMPATABLE? Let's talk about available courses. I live in Oregon and SureShot lists a total of 78 courses in Oregon available for download. SkyCaddie lists about 175 Oregon courses and GolfLogix has well over 200. If I could do it all over again, I would buy one of these units which are roughly the same price.
